The Foundation to Thrive:  Connecting The Importance of Safe, Stable Homes with the Health and Wellbeing of Families and Children

Given the importance of promoting solutions that ensure all children live in stable homes, Children’s HealthWatch partnered with Mission Partners to develop an advocacy toolkit that makes a compelling connection between the importance of safe, stable homes with the health and wellbeing of children and their families. Though the connection between housing, mental health and wellbeing is well known in the health care community, it is time to broaden understanding about why it matters and quantify the significant impact of addressing (or not addressing) this solvable problem.

With this toolkit, we provide key data and messages on the importance of safe housing on children’s mental health as well as the dangers of inaction including intergenerational stress, adverse childhood experiences and lower earning potential in the long term.

We would like to thank Butler Family Fund and Mission Partners for their support in making this toolkit possible.
