“We know that SNAP’s role in supporting health begins even before birth. Research shows that babies whose mothers participated in SNAP during pregnancy are less likely to be born at low birth weight, which is obviously an outcome that we don’t want because it leads to lots of extra healthcare costs and bad health outcomes, such as asthma and developmental delays and respiratory issues.”
