Trends in food insecurity and SNAP participation among immigrant families of US born young children
Children’s Healthwatch Deputy Director of Policy Strategy, Allison Bovell-Ammon, delivered a presentation on a new study which examines the trends in food insecurity and SNAP participation among immigrant families of US born young children. Findings from the study show that there was a drop in SNAP participation among immigrant mothers in 2018 despite no changes in eligibility rules for SNAP and this drop in participation may be related to changes in national immigration rhetoric and increased federal action to deport and detain immigrants.
