You are invited to the Healthy Families EITC Coalition Briefing and Lobby Day on April 10th from 10am-11am at the Massachusetts State House in Room 348 on the 3rd floor. To RSVP, please click this link.

The Healthy Families EITC Coalition, led by Children’s HealthWatch at Boston Medical Center, is a statewide nonpartisan network of advocates working to promote the health and well-being of Massachusetts children and families through improvements in the state Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The Lobby Day will be an opportunity for individuals and groups from across the state to advocate for Representative Decker’s bill H.2434, “An Act Improving the Earned Income Credit for Working Families”. This bill would:

  • Enable taxpayers who file with an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) to access the Massachusetts EITC.
  • Increase the Massachusetts EITC from 30% to 50% of the value of the federal EITC.
  • Direct the Department of Revenue to engage in a comprehensive outreach EITC promotion and outreach campaign.
  • Establish state funding for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites.

The Lobby Day will include a briefing for representatives. Speakers at the briefing include Representative Decker, researchers, a volunteer tax preparer, taxpayers who file their returns VITA sites and recipients of EITC. Following the briefing, members and supporters of the Healthy Families EITC Coalition will meet with representatives at the State House.

Este proyecto de ley:

  • Permite que contribuyentes con ITINs tengan derecho al EITC de Massachusetts.
  • Aumenta el EITC de Massachusetts del 30% al 50% del valor del EITC federal.
  • Ordena al Departamento de Ingresos (DOR) a que participe en una campaña integral de promoción y divulgación del EITC.
  • Establece un fondo estatal para apoyar el programa para preparación de impuestos gratis (VITA)

El Lobby Day incluirá una reunión informativa para los representantes.  Los presentes incluyen la Representante Decker, MassBudget, un preparador de impuestos voluntario de VITA, los contribuyentes que presentan sus impuestos en sitios VITA y recipientes del EITC. Después de la reunión informativa, los miembros y amigos de la Coalición EITC de Healthy Families se visitarán sus representantes en la Casa del Estado.
