Guest column: Keep thousands of children out of poverty
If a pediatrician told you she could write a prescription that would reduce the risk of pre-term births, low birth weight babies, and improve children’s health in Massachusetts, you would probably chalk it up to wishful thinking. But that prescription exists. It’s called the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and our bill to expand it is H2479.
Earlier this month, hundreds of supporters came to the State House to hear testimony before the Joint Committee on Revenue about expanding the credit. The momentum was palpable.
