Children’s HealthWatch and The Center for Hunger-Free Communities hosted a webinar, which featured the release of a new Children’s HealthWatch report: “Punishing Hard Work: The Unintended Consequences of Cutting SNAP Benefits.” The report details research findings on a phenomenon known as the “cliff effect.” Bonita Cuff, a member of Witnesses to Hunger, shared her personal experience with ‘benefit cliffs’, Children’s HealthWatch researchers discussed the report’s findings, and Matt Unrath of Wider Opportunities for Women discussed public policy solutions to alleviate this issue while preserving and supporting SNAP, a vital and effective public health program.
