Children’s HealthWatch Submits a Letter In Opposition of Cutting Arkansas’ Income and Corporate Tax (HB1007)

In Arkansas, Governor Sanders has called for a special session to cut the state’s income and corporate taxes for the second time in 2023. Nearly 80% of this cut would be delivered to the top 20% of earners, while the bottom 20% would not see any relief. At the same time, the cut would reduce revenue by $185M annually, with advocates raising concerns that this would have consequences for funding public programs. The Senate Committee on Revenue & Tax advanced this proposal on September 11, 2023. Stephanie Ettinge de Cuba, PhD, MPH, Executive Director of Children’s HealthWatch, has submitted a letter to the House Committee in opposition on September 12, 2023.
