Sonja Katt is an AmeriCorps VISTA Communications Associate at Children’s HealthWatch. In this role, Sonja works closely with and under the guidance of the Children’s HealthWatch leadership team to strengthen our organization-wide communications, and promote equity in all aspects of the organization’s communications work. The VISTA program at Children’s HealthWatch operates to strengthen our mission-driven work and organizational capacity to effectively communicate our research findings.

In May of 2021, Sonja received her BA magna cum laude in Chemistry and Studio Art from Carthage College. Her future plans include attending medical school to purse a Doctor of Medicine and Master in Public Health after her year of service in AmeriCorps.

In undergrad, Sonja took part in the startup of the STEM Progress Alliance for Racine and Kenosha (SPARK) summer camp for young girls in July 2019. Sonja worked for Carthage as a Lead Coordinator for chemistry lab assistants and a chemistry tutor for the Natural Sciences department. Outside of Carthage, Sonja worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Intensive Care Unit for Froedtert South Pleasant Prairie Hospital. In her creative pursuits, Sonja received the Kalke Excellence in Studio Art award for her senior exhibition artifacts.
